100. Yıl Kale Halk Kütüphanesi
Niğde şehir merkezinde, Eski Saray Mahallesi'nde bulunan Yahya Peygamber (Prodromos) Rum Kilisesi, 1861 yılında inşa edilmiş olup şehrin önemli tarihi yapılarından biridir. Daha önce aynı alanda bulunan Hagios Prodromos Manastırı'nın yıkılmasının ardından yapılan kilise, uzun yıllar bölgedeki Rum Ortodoks topluluğuna hizmet vermiştir.
Taş işçiliği, etkileyici mimarisi ve özenle yapılmış süslemeleriyle dikkat çeken yapı, içerisinde yer alan dini tasvirler ve duvar resimleriyle de önemli bir kültürel miras niteliği taşımaktadır. Hz. Meryem'e Müjde, Hz. İsa'nın Göğe Yükselişi ve İncil yazarlarına ait sahneler, yapının sanatsal ve tarihi değerini yansıtan başlıca eserler arasındadır.
Tarihi kimliği korunarak geleceğe taşınan yapı, Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı ile Niğde Belediyesi'nin katkı ve destekleriyle gerçekleştirilen restorasyon çalışmaları sonucunda yeniden hayat bulmuştur. Cumhuriyetimizin 100. yılı kapsamında kültürel yaşama kazandırılan yapı, 19 Aralık 2023 tarihinde "100. Yıl Kale Halk Kütüphanesi" olarak hizmete açılmıştır.
Günümüzde Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığına bağlı olarak faaliyet gösteren kütüphane, 173 kişilik kapasitesi, modern donanımı ve tarihi atmosferiyle her yaştan ziyaretçiye hizmet vermektedir. Geçmişin izlerini taşıyan bu özel yapı, bugün bilgiye erişimin, öğrenmenin ve kültürel paylaşımın merkezi olarak Niğde'nin sosyal ve kültürel hayatına katkı sağlamaya devam etmektedir
100th Anniversary Castle Public Library
Located in the Eski Saray Quarter in the city center of Niğde, the Saint John the Baptist (Prodromos) Greek Orthodox Church is one of the city's most important historical landmarks. Built in 1861, the church was erected following the demolition of the Hagios Prodromos Monastery, which had previously stood on the same site. For many years, it served the local Greek Orthodox community as a place of worship.
Renowned for its fine stone masonry, impressive architecture, and meticulously crafted decorative details, the building is also an important part of the region’s cultural heritage. Its religious paintings and wall frescoes, including depictions of the Annunciation to the Virgin Mary, the Ascension of Jesus Christ, and representations of the Four Evangelists, reflect the artistic and historical significance of the monument.
Preserving its historical identity while being adapted for contemporary use, the building was revitalized through restoration works carried out with the support and contributions of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye and the Municipality of Niğde. As part of the celebrations marking the 100th Anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye, it was officially opened to the public on 19 December 2023 as the 100th Anniversary Castle Public Library.
Today, the library operates under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. With a capacity of 173 visitors, modern facilities, and a unique historical atmosphere, it serves people of all ages. Carrying the legacy of the past into the future, this remarkable building continues to enrich the social and cultural life of Niğde as a center for knowledge, learning, and cultural exchange.
Burgbibliothek zum 100. Jubiläum der Republik
Die griechisch-orthodoxe Kirche des Heiligen Johannes des Täufers (Prodromos) befindet sich im Stadtviertel Eski Saray im Zentrum von Niğde und zählt zu den bedeutendsten historischen Bauwerken der Stadt. Sie wurde im Jahr 1861 errichtet, nachdem das zuvor an gleicher Stelle stehende Heiliger-Prodromos-Kloster abgerissen worden war. Über viele Jahre diente die Kirche der örtlichen griechisch-orthodoxen Gemeinde als Gotteshaus.
Mit ihrer kunstvollen Steinmetzarbeit, ihrer beeindruckenden Architektur und ihren sorgfältig ausgeführten Verzierungen stellt die Kirche ein bedeutendes kulturelles Erbe dar. Besonders hervorzuheben sind die religiösen Wandmalereien und Darstellungen, darunter die Verkündigung an Maria, die Himmelfahrt Jesu Christi sowie die Abbildungen der vier Evangelisten. Diese Werke spiegeln den hohen historischen und künstlerischen Wert des Bauwerks wider.
Unter Wahrung ihrer historischen Identität wurde die Kirche durch Restaurierungsarbeiten, die mit Unterstützung des Ministeriums für Kultur und Tourismus der Republik Türkei sowie der Stadtverwaltung von Niğde durchgeführt wurden, zu neuem Leben erweckt. Im Rahmen der Feierlichkeiten zum 100. Jubiläum der Republik Türkei wurde das Gebäude am 19. Dezember 2023 als Burgbibliothek zum 100. Jubiläum der Republik offiziell für die Öffentlichkeit eröffnet.
Heute wird die Bibliothek vom Ministerium für Kultur und Tourismus verwaltet und bietet mit einer Kapazität von 173 Personen, moderner Ausstattung und ihrer einzigartigen historischen Atmosphäre Besucherinnen und Besuchern jeden Alters einen besonderen Ort zum Lesen, Lernen und Forschen. Als Brücke zwischen Vergangenheit und Zukunft leistet dieses außergewöhnliche Bauwerk weiterhin einen wertvollen Beitrag zum sozialen und kulturellen Leben der Stadt Niğde.
